In what world is it okay to devolve into such a rabid frothing mess because someone told you that your childhood presumptions may not hold up to scrutiny? Or, more accurately, do not hold up to scrutiny considering we know what the Japanese text says, and know that the developers aren't being metaphorical, especially when compared to later renditions of the same text where they expressly try to be metaphorical and vague in an effort to sanitize the game for a new generation of children. A subtle admission that the speaker in question will stubbornly cling to their weakminded delusions, if for no other reason than out of spite for the more reasonable position. It's such a bald expression of fear and what makes it so revolting is that it is often completely unnecessary. If more people would stop tethering their identities to fictional media, the world would be a much better place. Or at the very least, this thread wouldn't exist, which is basically the same thing.
