>>43481281>pokefags only play pokemon, that's why they have shit taste in gamsTo be honest, i kinda agree with that sentiment. I'm in a Pokefag group of ~50 people that often get together to play Pokemon and Smash. I'm not shitting you when i say at least 75% of them grew up exclusively on Nintendo shit. Pokemon is one of the only RPG's they know and care about. There's also a couple of legit autistic Sonicfags that are easy to rile up. That part of the group still defends the franchise quite avidly despite its shortcomings, and it's really hard to talk about videogames unless they're Nintendo related, which makes it quite frustrating.
As someone that grew with equal parts Super Mario World, Chrono Trigger, Age of Empires, The Longest Journey, Pokemon, Tomb Raider and crap from all sorts of consoles, i find it much easier to associate with the other 20% of the group, and unfortunately, i can see real life being somewhat like this too.
Anyways, my favorite games are:
Majora's Mask
Pathologic 2
Kid Icarus Uprising
With honorable mentions to Red Dead Redemption and Silent Hill 2.
>opinions on gen 5+The franchise is weak overall. 6/10 average. Gen IV was overall the peak because of the Plat/HG/SS combo, but that's not saying much considering i think they're 8/10 at best. It's such an iterative franchise with hardly any innovation. Gen 5 was just worse Gen 4, but at least it was faster. Gen 6 actually brought the most changes since Gen 4, so i appreciate it a bit for that. It was nice to see the series reach 3D, the dex was quality over quantity and Megas made the meta interesting, but it shat the bed on all other areas. Gen 7 and 8 are some of the worst RPG's i've ever played. There's dozens of RPG's that i enjoy playing more. I'm hoping Nostalgia will lose its grasp on me soon, because i don't know why i still care desu. Maybe my friends and a couple of designs are the only things that keep me here.
