XY is heads and shoulders above every other series. Just the music, editing and animation would be enough for that to be the case, but it finishes that up with the most human feeling, well developed main cast (one that is actually allowed to emote), an actual great evil team climax, and probably the best usage of Team Rocket until Sun and Moon came along. Its only real major flaw was the league blunder; everything else was perfect. It even had the best fillers of the series so far.
