But that's not really important, I'd say it depends a lot on the context and how the Pokémon thinks, behaves, and their age. If its an adult for its species, is able to have complex thoughts, think & behave independently, and speak a language understandable to humans...I don't think most would have any issue with that depending on the context of course.
