>>46840269Not a Drapion fan but your post made me realize how sad and pathetic this is, so I decided to find what would be the best possible Abilities for him. I think honestly all 3 need to be replaced, and this Pokémon's role re-invented.
>Sand Force or Sand RushUnorthodox but there are multiple mentions of this family line being a desert-dwelling species, enough such to easily warrant a sand ability. And as far as Sandstorm teams go it's always appreciated when you're able to add some Pokémon on there that don't HAVE to be Steel, Rock or Ground. Get some variety in there with the Types. Either ability would be lovely and very useful. It doesn't matter which one.
Sand Rush might be a little better because Drapion's 95 speed is already respectable, and this lets you defensively combat OTHER sand teams—if you had Sand Force they're probably outspeed you and OHKO with Earthquake, but that doesn't happen with Sand Rush.
>Sheer ForceSince the dex explicitly mentions all the time that Drapion prefers NOT to use its poison because it likes to show off how strong it is, this feel appropriate. A lot of Drapion's attacks have secondary effects to abuse this with, like the elemental fang moves which would be base 84, as well as Crunch becoming base 104 and basically all of its Poison STAB getting the boost.
>Merciless or Poison TouchCan't decide which. For Merciless, it just seems fitting and like it would appreciate it. It prefers not to poison its foe, but if it does it just makes it that much stronger. But I also like Poison Touch because if you take a look at it almost Drapion's entire physical movepool is contact moves.
I'd also like to give it a new move, Coil. Yes I know it's supposed to be like a snake coiling before striking, but scorpions also do almost the same exact thing and Drapion is exaggeratedly long enough to actually coil.
