i am fascinated by the pokemania phenomenon and how it was perceived just before it, i was reading the november 1998 issue of gamepro and i happened across the pokemon article and i was taken aback by how little foresight into the success it was going to garner, as you can see it's fairly innocuous and matter o factly and barely squeezed into the issue. i also think it's quaint how it's obviously being played on a super gameboy and they make no mention of it.
