Just because its takes ages to get from one location to the other doesn't equal a grand adventure. DQ11 AND BOTW have massive open spaces with nothing to do in them, its just a lazy tactic to make you think that you are venturing on an epic tale when you are just wasting your life moving from point A to B.
I much prefer a concise location like Glimwood Tangle or Slumbering Weald to a bland open space like in BOTW or DQ11. Open world games give the illusion of a grand adventure when in reality its just a longer map to cross.
Open world games need to die.
