Butterfree and Beedrill are only there to help new players have an easier time at the beginning of the game and be boxed by midgame, that's the point. The gen 1 birds are a mess. Pidgeot has a fuckton in special but learns 0 special moves. Dodrio is just upgraded Fearow. Water Pokemon like Golduck, Seaking, and Seadra seem like dex filler too.
