Hiya guys. This is the first post to inform you that I and a group of /vp/oreons living in a close vicinity are working on a project together based on pokémon sage. On our team we have a 3D modeler and various programmer-types who have made 3D prototype games of their own in the past. I can only write this one post as we agreed to only post about the project when we have full consensus from the others, and this is a press-release of sorts.
We were basically inspired by the fan art someone drew of Comossus and Flarrapin fighting on a grand scale, and the Island of Giant Pokémon animé episode. Our working title is Pokémon Sage: Kaiju REvolution. The game mechanics will be a blend of elements from Pokémon Colosseum, Monster Hunter and the Final Fantasy games, pitting the player and his/her team of regular sized pokemon against colossal 'kaiju-mon' on an island across the sea from Urobos, where revolutionaries fight to reclaim the island from kaiju. We will likely let the player control a kaiju at some point late in the game.
The technical guys have asked me to tell you not to expect wonders in terms of the graphics. We're aiming for something along the lines of Pokémon Stadium at the moment for efficiency's sake. We're progressing much more rapidly than we thought though, which is probably a result of our own enthusiasm more than anything.
Our last point is to inform you that our next post will be in two weeks time. By then we'll have put together a series of screenshots from the early tests of the game and be able to share some of the concept artwork. I can't stop to answer questions but I hope you enjoy what we have planned.
