>>53938100Because the story so far has been a masterclass in planning. Everything flows logically, lots of foreshadowing, things fit together in ways that don't seem random or ad hoc. Example:
Jasmine started as a Rock type specialist, and had a Graveler she didn't get along with. Decides to trade it to a Hiker who sees potential in the Grav, says the Poke will do well as a Pokeathlete. 80 chapters later, Jasmine is doubting her decisions vis a vis her Pokemon. She's in Goldenrod, and it makes sense in the context of the current arc for her to enter Pokeathlon. Graveler reappears as a Golem and totally kicks her team's ass. Jasmine is genuinely happy for Golem, seeing the poke have success in her new home, and helps ease Jasmine's doubts.
And this is just a minor example, author just keeps weaving so many plot threads together in a brilliant way, brings up old things in new light all the time. Even the Morty betrayal, when it caught us off-guard at first, we went back and found hints in earlier chapters we had glossed over the first time reading.
Olivine's got a strong central theme that author keeps coming back to, and there's no arc or character that feels wasted. He just gets lost in the weeds sometimes. We were hyped for the Pokeathlon at first, and then it turned into FIVE chapters and really overstayed its welcome, and even author said that was a mistake. But overall, each part feels like it has its own structure and is going somewhere, and author has said we're halfway through part 6 of a total of 7.
Olivine's def. not without flaws, but I think it's unfair what anon said after just skimming through it.
