Here we can see how Cynthia went through more character development and growth during her childhood/teenage years than Leon has gone through in his entire lifetime.
Plus in the same scene we see her nurturing qualities as she's teaching Ash & Co, and specially Shinji after she noticed how uncaring of a person he was towards his fellow human and Pokemon, about how new meetings and connections between one another are a catalyst to become stronger.
