Do you think a lot of the gen 2 hate comes from how they play it?

This is just my observation into the people who think gen 2 is the worst. And it is that half their complaints really come from how they play these games. And that is that most of them are playing Pokemon Crystal on an emulator on their phone or pc.
However when these came out people did not play them on an emulator. Instead most kids played these on a Gameboy Color on a playground with other kids with Gameboy Colors.
This already takes away a lot of their arguments.
Not getting stones until Kanto: Well just trade your Pokemon into your friends Gen 1 game and evolve it there. It's that simple.
Some Johtomons appearing late in the game: Well just trade those mons into your new game from your friend who has completed the game.
Complaints about version exclusive Pokemon (especially Mareep not being on Crystal): Just trade them from your friend who happens to have a version of the game that has those mons.
Complaints about trade evolutions with held items. I have seen people complain on how you are stuck witn an Onix or Seadra: You are supposed to have friends to trade with them.
Off course Gen 2 does have these problems I will admit that. But these complaints in my opinion come mainly from the fact that they play the game alone with an emulator while you were supposed to play it with friends with a Gameboy Color.
