so, as someone that's never done competitive pokemon battling, I have questions about where to start. I realize that smogon battling is singles, and VGC is doubles, but which one should people try to care and participate more in? I assume smogon has some kind of ranking and ladder to climb, but does VGC have anything similar, that's not just the in-game rankings? Also, does smogon battling take place mostly on pokemon showdown? I assume that's much easier than actually trying to use smogon rules against someone and playing on Switch.
I haven't even thought about team composition and stuff like that but I saw that one video where Jadenanimations makes a competitive team with Groudon and Charizard, I was wondering if that's actually viable outside of random online Switch battles.
