I think there will be megas, since anyone playing seriously pretty much has to have one on their team, the battle system has been altered forever and they can't really ignore this. Well, they can, because they are very lazy and probably don't give a shit, as we all know, but this really obviously effects the game. There needs to be more choice in megas, and ORAS showed they are willing to add more when necessary. They took a break from new megas in gen 7, but that just means they have two gens worth of new options for pokemon to mega evolve, not to mention Gen 5 only has Audino.
Regional forms however, are not necessary. GF did them once and is gonna forget about them forever I'm sure.
