That "extra" content HG/SS had wasn't that much, but it was VERY important content, since its what it made you play long, long, after you beat the game. This is why XY/ORAS is so hated.
Sure, the rest of the game is pretty similar to other gens, but you literally only keep playing post-game because of the online and because it's the newest gen so far.
As soon as sun/moon become the standart, these games will be fucking buried in the deepest of grounds and never be heard of again.
