So this is what I've been up to the past few days... Island City->Route 16->Daycare->Route 15.
A few notes:
A: My intent is to see some sort of custom temple tile used here. Hopefully there would be matching houses to make the area feel more cohesive.
B: Since it's not clear what order we're tackling the gyms yet, there could be some sort of swimmer who will ferry you across the gap if you need to get to this gym before Surf is available.
C: A general note on Route 16, it's way too small. I'm already looking into expanding it.
D: My idea for the daycare (since it is its own area for once) was to have separate zones for different kinds of Pokemon. So a basic meadow, E: lake and F: rocky/cliff area. The gaps would have a guy standing in them letting you check up on your mons. Of course, if we're not going to have overworld sprites for everything then maybe just a few select ones could be hanging around here.
G: The daycare itself. Since it's quite isolated, I figured there'd be lots of room for a family to live here. Perhaps one of them is a member of the E4 or some such. I know people want to see them more integrated into the region.
H: A rest-stop for people heading into the rainforest.
I: Random idea I had based on these little statues. This one acts as a little tutorial with an old man/woman explaining their history. Ancient tribes erected them to help people navigate the rainforests. They often left supplies and the like in the statues in order to help travellers. Seeking out the statues would reward the player with items. Obviously, the more tricky to find ones would have better stuff.
J: Another random detail. Another old person would tell you that this mysterious rock has healing properties. It cures status elements when you walk near it. In the rainforest, a similar rock is surrounded by mushrooms and poisons your first mon when you walk nearby.
Comments please.
Also, please note the straight path running past the daycare for hatching purposes.
