I can't stand all of these stand-alone Pokemon who don't have an evolution or a pre-evolution.
One of the defining mechanics of Pokemon is evolution.
It's why gen 4 was one of my favourite gens, even if some of the evolutions for pre-existing Pokemon were a bit weird, many of them gave so much more character to existing Pokemon.
Also, modern Pokemon designs, like the Ultrabeasts for example. are a bit weird, at least this way they will be forced to maintain the similar kind of style that older generations had.
