>>55591946This raises more of a question about if humans existed in the world (confirmed by rescue team) and what the humans were in pmd. If it was a human culture like the mainline games, I don't really know how long pokeballs last in the long term or what would happen to the pokemon inside assuming their trainers just disappeared over night. Also don't know how long the technology remains functional and how long it has been since humans would have disappeared.
I guess ultimately if you wanted to use it in a story, just make it cool.
