Shiny pokemon used to be very rare with only a small percentage of people having encountered one without any tricks or boosts to chance rates. As the generations have gone by however, the original rate has been improved more and more along with various ways to boost this already higher rate even more (some can even be used together such as shiny charm w SOS chaining). It’s at the point where pretty much anyone can get one if they put in an hour or 2 save a few outliers. How much more will their rates be boosted by Gen IX? By Gen X? They’re already on the verge of not being that rare anymore, if they already haven’t passed that threshold
As a way to maybe make up for this decreasing rarity, should all pokemon be given a second shiny? Maybe this “very rare” shiny could have the original odds. They already kind did this in SwSh w shinies that sparkle with rectangles instead of the regular shine which are more rare. This could give those who miss the old challenge a sort of “refresh” while keeping original shinies at their now accessible rates, and maybe some mons w shit shinies could be given a better third option.
