Gen 4 took gen 3's villain bullshit it up to 11. Gen 5 straight up had a "story" story, and it was stupid as fuck. Gen 6 dialed villain shit it back to gen 4 levels, but pretended it was a tragic disney epic. Gen 7 has you as a side character to pic related as she learns how to stand up against her mother, by having you do all the heavy lifting. She also stops you in every town and every route to say a whole lot of nothing, and the bottom screen of the DS is a gps that guides you from cutscene to cutscene and nothing else(waste of of the bottom screen once you beat the game).
