But ever since Gen 3, I have been keeping my main collection of Pokemon. While I lost my initial Ruby Pokemon to a younger siblings ignorance, from FireRed onward I've kept Pokemon I like from each, like stuff I liked my playthrough teams, or Pokemon I've bred or other things. I always like to get non-contest ribbons on on them.
In particular, I have my starter Charizard, because I'm an incurable Charizardfag, and my Pikachu, because I was an animefag and hes my main in Smash.
Charizard is my favorite by Pikachu is my buddy. Went out of my way to get Pikachu as quickly as possible.
One of my favorite memories from that playthrough years ago was Pikachu carrying me through my battle against Lorelei. He didn't have a Light Ball, but he got amazingly lucky and paralyzed with Thunder every Pokemon and then they were unable to attack that turn. Shit was hilarious.
Nowadays, every one that is transferable is on my Sword. While I'm debating on whether to give it to Charizard or not, I immediately gave Pikachu the Gigantamax factor as soon as I could.
