that said, these pokemon are shit. not because they're themed characters, but because the designs themselves are bad. "spy lizard with water cloaking abilities and water finger pistol" is a very solid concept with potential but gamefreak really screwed the pooch on actually making it look good. same goes for the other two. wasted potential.
you're right to be mad at these shitty starter designs, but you're getting mad at them for the wrong reasons.
