Gen 1 was never designed for competitive play because it was an experimental low budget passion project and they weren't even sure it was going to sell. The mechanics are functional as a single player RPG but they're very buggy and unbalanced and they'd be a total meme in competitive. The PvP battle feature was an afterthought because "why not." So basically... the only people who'd be interested in playing it *competitively* are mega autists, the only people you see playing these obscure meme games with shit competitive mechanics. And guess what? The more mega autistic an activity is, the more trannies you'll see doing it. Weird attracts weird and so forth.
