For those arguing that the canon of the anime somehow outweighs that of the games or is somehow the same canon it is worth remembering this:
In terms of innovation the games are the primary source and the anime is BASED on the games. Because of this nothing that appears in the anime can ever outweigh any fact from the games, ever. The same is true of trading cards and other spin-off media too; if it is based on the games then the games are the main canon.
To argue that the anime map, that was scribbled together in a few minutes and shows NO other pokeworld location than Unova is somehow canon is like saying that Verruca Salt's exit in the book Charlie and the chocolate factory involved golden eggs, because it did in the Gene Wilder film based on it.
