The fangame this is for plays closer to a spinoff, like Lets Go. Not to say its using the Lets Go system, it will be using its own thing. I just mean its only somewhat similar and parts of the game are absolutely stripped out, like how Lets Go took out wild battles and catching and replaced them with a minigame. In my case its a lot of the stat micromanaging and breeding mechanics.
Story still focuses on the typical gym challenge followed by elite 4. Main focus is on replayability above outright challenge. You are only going to be fighting about half of the gyms each playthrough. The game will have a new game+, which I'm still ironing out most of the details for, but I'm designing it as if the game had two different versions, with the version being chosen randomly at the start, and switched for NG+. You get two options for NG+.
>Option 1
You select a single pokemon, and get to use a level 5 version of it as your starter, playing through the game again normally with your favorite mon by your side. The rest of your pokemon are boxed, and you get locked out of that PC and use a new box system until you clear the E4, which merges all your boxes.
>Option 2
You restart with your current team, and have full access to your box. All other trainers and wild pokemon are boosted up to endgame levels and you are expected to be level 100 when you take on the E4 this second time around.
Option 1 also gives you the choice of taking on an optional monotype challenge mode. You pick one of your new starters types, and you get locked into it. You are given an unlimited number of Master [Type] Balls. They have a perfect catch rate of pokemon of that type, but will always fail when trying to catch a pokemon without those types. Shops will no longer contain any variety of pokeball.
