>>31628589At this point both are guilty pleasures to me. I don't want to trash SM cause I appreciate points of it that I liked but there are what feels like dozens of faucets where they come just that close to being great only to fuck it up for inexcusable reasons.>>31628612I hate to say it, but most developers I feel would dig this board's perceived grave of the series further.
>AAAOpen world genwun only
>IndiesYou get like half the maingame turned into cut content. You thought a few dungeons was bad? Try this.
I might be forgetting a dev or two that are western that would handle the IP well, but I still think the best candidates are GS and HAL.
The Orre games already showed up GF over 10 years ago if you ask me. Both of them. The best part is that those two games could make up for their shortcomings with appeal in another way easily. As far as I'm concerned GF has had 10 years to top Genius Sonority and hasn't been able to do it yet, and if they ditch 3rd versions/sequels/anything that isn't a remake, they never will.
As for HAL, if you ask me the Kirby series has been doing what GF is trying to do for years. Have a fun game that can attract casuals while having appeal to a core audience. Imagine if every Pokemon game had something like the True Arena? How about minigames or extra modes like Super Star?
>>31628723They do have more than enough money, they just don't actually do it.
>What really is bizarre is that there are these locations which are clearly either 90% finished or at least were planned. Why scrap them? Surely it wouldn't have been hard to complete them. You have to remember the interior. Chances are if they forced themselves to keep them they'd be small rooms like ORAS New Mauville or something.
Also as an extra thing. I have a friend who can read Japanese and I asked her to translate negative Amazon JP reviews for me. The most common complaint is actually lack of exploration so perhaps shit will hit the fan one day.
