I'm playing Shield now. Played Clover in the last year and had a blast. Feels so shitty going back to the mainline games. There's literally no soul or life at all in it. Nobody has anything interesting to say, no interesting characters, no humour, and the music is fucking awful. It's basically just running straight from gym to gym and no reason to explore, and then every single trainer or gym battle ends in literally 1 move. I didn't like that Clover had a lot of grinding to make new teams for specific fights, but it was way better than steam-rolling like twenty trainers in a row with one pokemon who kills everything instantly.
Feels like the only way to have any possible fun with these main games is to Nuzlocke.
