For example, the official art for monsters in Dragon Quest are in standing poses, yet generally in ways that really highlight their silhouettes, even similar posed monsters can still be distinguished from each other. They look ready for action.
Not too long ago, I created my own monster design encyclopedia, and after having fiddled with the official poses for some time, I really feel that even just adding almost anything extra to the plain neutral poses Pokemon have goes a long way without making them too dynamic for marketing.
