It seem people loves to see the darker version of our beloved series and character. I wonder if pokemon fans would like to see a darker pokemon anime with darker version of Ash.

I would rather see a cute and attractive yet mean and cold-hearted girl debuting as a rival who wants to take Ash and all other trainers down to become the best trainer of the world. That would bring more hype than any Pikachu fillers.
