>>52663314The biggest issue is that more than likely the new girl is going to have the exact same personality as Ash but will be lacking the battling skills off the bat. There is no reason to replace Ash with a gender swapped character if they have the same personality. The next biggest issue is what happens at the end of the SV anime. If they replace the new girl then the Pokemon anime is fucked forever because we'll soon have 100 new protagonists that no one knows the names of. They'll keep wheeling Ash out of the retirement home so that he can inject a ratings boost as no body will want to keep watching a new protagonist with a new face but same personality as Ash/his future expys over and over again.
In the next 5 years Ash will be touted to make a big return is some fashion, possibly to come back as the fulltime lead if this series flops which is what I'm expecting. Odds are the new girl becomes as strong as Ash by the end of SV in 3 years. Go was capturing and fighting legendries 30 episodes into PM which is fucking atrocious considering he weas a newby.
Pokemon is becoming Yugioh and Digimon where they replace their protagonists every few years. The issue being that there's no need to replace them if they're all going to act/sound/talk the same way as the original protagaonists aka Ash.
