I've seen a lot of people say how SwSh looks exactly the same as USUM, so I decided to emulate both and see what both games actually look like.
I'd say that either 3DS's low resolution hid a lot of Gen 7's blemishes, or Switch's low resolution was too unflattering to Gen 8. These games certainly look generations apart, the kind of jump you'd see from PS2 to PS3, which lines up with the hardware. I wouldn't call these games "the best their platforms could offer", but I don't think GameFreak was lazy either.
