ORAS and Emerald are feel like two halves of a hypothetical complete Hoenn experience. Like they looked at the same list of things Ruby/Sapphire needed to iron out and split the job. The fanservice is nice, Hoenn's stuff and Kalos' stuff make a pretty nice package, but then it insists on moving the camera in any direction at all and suddenly reminds you how cheap it is.
>>49944962The obvious one is the Dexnav if you want to take a moment to get IVs or extra moves on a Pokemon you are set on. Beyond that, you can play contests in their entirety from any contest hall, literally as soon as your reach Slateport, and the Pokenav's berry tracker means you can plant berries all over the place and let IT remember where you planted for you, so you can make that bumper crop that much sooner if you don't mind running around for it. If you're playing on a 3DS than getting secret base partners is also lucrative for the not just the extra battles that now scale in level to your badges but all the extra stuff or perks they'll give you.
