We have a term for smogonfags in the fighting game scene. Scrubs. Competitive fighting game scenes don't ban characters or moves. They let them play their course. Eventually, counters are found and abused. And those counters are countered eventually. And this continues on and on.
Smogonfags simply prevent the natural progression of the meta game. Their meta is artificial and does not stand up under real competitive circles as they never actually learn to cope with common strategies.
