FREE ITEMS /vp/ always will say that every pokemon game besides bw/b2w2 is shit because they're mostly underages, same goes for /v/ saying that every pokemon besides rgby is shit because they're fossils. Don't listen to them and dig in the story, it's actually really good, believe me.
sumo is kinda meh, but usum won my heart, it is now between my favorites If you don't like cutscenes (around 12min of them during the entire game) and you prefer really hard battles
ultra necrozma instead of story and side stories, maybe you will find it boring.
The last advice is: dig in and don't compare too much, of course, everybody has a favorite game, but if you're open to the experiences, then you probably will enjoy much more every game
