I get a lot of kids where I have to swim with them for weeks (holding them up by their stomach especially) while they learn to float, breathe out underwater, and use their legs rather than letting them sink and drag them down. Definitely would not trust them near even a lake without floaties. Desu, I don't even trust any relatives in the ocean that haven't swam competitively or trained before, especially having been caught in a riptide myself as a kid.
