We have a ton of birds identified as "Hawaiian <name of species>" so I guess Rowlet fits.
We have similar stuff for the marine life, though I would think whales are the humuhumunukunukuapua'a would be more relevant than a sea lion, the former being relevant for tourism since they all come here in the winter and the latter being the state fish and easy to find while fishing or scuba diving.
Cat makes no sense. Not that we don't have a feral cat population, but it's not particularly notable. If I had to choose, I'd pick the Hawaiian snake. (aka Brahminy blind snake) It's tiny and adorable. It's the smallest snake in the world and is basically a worm with a face and forked tongue.
