Shitposting aside, faces and especially eyes are often the most important thing about a design monster or otherwise and the way Pokemon pulls them off is part of why the designs are so phenomenal. It's why you can usually tell a fakemon from first glance, because the faces just sit right. It's also why I really dislike most of the Pokemon whose heads are just a ball with eyes and a moe mouth such as a lot of the humanoid waifumons, there's nothing interesting or endearing about them.
