You get the occasional introveted genius who creates something epic and beyond what most western games bring to the table in terms of story and/or mechanics... but when it comes to everyday design decisions, they're like some sort of association of mentally challenged Magikarp, flailing at their keyboards without putting any thought into anything except their overly grandiose aspirations for the future.
Which isn't surprising, since from what I've been told by friends who have interacted with Japs, they have some sort of obsession with following technical instructions, and are incapable of performing at all when not given said instructions.
Great traits to have when working on creative products...
