It's really not that hard of a game (Inb4 "that's every pokemon game ever"). The game is trivialized with any pokemon that can learn the elemental punches and has enough speed to outspeed Lance's Dragonites.
Make sure to get a Donphan in the morning for a good early ground type, teddiursa in the first cave you encounter (also in the morning) for a bulky attacker.
Make sure to hatch a shiny out of the Odd Egg, save before you get it from the Old Man in the daycare. You're fucked with almost no good electric types so you could get either an elekid or pichu out of it.
I was thinking myself of getting an umbreon, but honestly it's kinda a shit pokemon??? Scizor does it's job better (dark-killer/psychic-killer/tank).
Also a party of 6 sucks dicks. Go for at least 4. The game's curve is absolutely fucked so you can overlevel a smaller team with some legendaries on the side (the box legendary Suicune also completely trivializes the game, but of course when do legend not trivialize the game, lmao)
Also Johto isn't fun blazing through. Just take it slow.
