Rhydon has to use Eviolite to boost its defenses, but it has a horrible defensive typing, no recovery and its only notable support move available is Stealth Rock. Rhyperior is already fairly bulky, has access to the same moves, better attack, an actual ability unlike Rhydon, and can run multiple sets/items.
