Might as well talk a bit about Jade Cocoon, it's a nice little game, not really entertaining, but each monster in this game has an ability you can teach to your own monsters by merging them, and you can get some crazy shit by merging different species. This game also works with elemental resistances/weaknesses, and battles are like pokemon, one versus one, turn based.
It's pretty short too, but you unlock a very long and hard bonus dungeon at the end of the game.
As for the second opus, it works differently: you can always merge monsters, but you don't have crazy lookings anymore, sad. And you fight enemies using a talisman, this talisman can bear eight different monsters, with you at the middle, and you can spin the talisman on four different sides, each side can have three different monsters this way. Strategies are less limited compared to the first game as there are more moves and special abilities. The game can get pretty long and repetitive at some point, hopefully there is always some new moves to get. After the end, you unlock some hard tournaments.
