Ariados is only my second favorite but I probably wouldn't like that. It's a complete line, tacking on an evolution just doesn't really work well, as seen by many post-gen 2 crossgens which end up looking awkward, ugly, or just not necessary.

I'm not a nugenner. In terms of Pokemon design, I like all gens equally, but in terms of mechanics and games themselves, I hate gens 6 and 7. They were just very disappointing, but again, I love many of the designs.

Continue experimenting with alternatives to gyms. Trials were kind of lame, and I have nothing against gyms but some change is always nice.
Story is more personal. I don't want to save the world anymore. Just a nice rivalry sounds about good right now.
I really hope they don't reveal the entire game in trailers and corocoro.
Going in and out of battles is quicker and smoother. I think the games would benefit a lot by this. As it is, it feels kind of chunky, and is the reason why I avoid battling often.
Some difficulty options that you don't need to beat the game to unlock.
More simple final starter evolutions, or something. I just don't want any more starters that are as ugly and disappointing as the gen 7 starters, though it's only my opinion.
The return of some previously existing features. The removal of the PSS especially hurt.

I'm not asking for anything crazy, so I can only hope that some of it is granted.
