Pokemon is one of the only RPGs that provides the player with hundreds upon hundreds of options to build their party, outfit their party with moves and equipment to suit specific needs, build specific counters to specific threats, or even make the choice to use inferior or suboptimal characters for no reason other than sentimental value. It's also a game that requires absolutely none of that and can generally be beaten with the Pokemon you start with and the first Pokemon you catch on any given route.
Any game that actually tries to make the player use any of those tools at their disposal is met with "This game is frustrating. Why can't I win with my favorites?"
Fuck Game Freak. It's the Pokemon fanbase that's dragging the series down.
