I entirely blame the anime for people disregarding her in the game.
Game!Iris was actually very interesting and well presented, but because of the anime, most people just saw her and said;

She isnt even using dragons!But in reality, it was greatly foreshadowed in B/W that she was going to be a fantastic trainer, and her design for her costume, theme, pokemon, music, ect, was all original and well thought-out, but of course, nobody cares because she's "the annoying little brown girl who bullies ash"
