I was happy seeing a lot of people hyped for 3D battles, customization and Mega Evolutions, especially the ones who didn't played for years, but it was not enough.
The anime heavily influenced for the popularity back in the days, and I can't see that coming back.
Finally, times change, people change. Pokémon games are still popular, the whole world plays it, but it'll never be like it was on the old days.
