>Interviewer: I feel that Ash and Leon are very similar in that they both love Pokémon. They have a lot in common but do you feel they have any differences? Ono: I feel that the Pokémon that represent their partners represent them more than themselves. Pikachu has been Ash’s partner since the very first battle until now. Pikachu looks really cute but also puts in a lot of effort, it gets stronger and stronger, and it never lets up. Pikachu stands up no matter how many times it loses, and the same can be said about Ash.
>Ono: On the other hand, Leon’s partner is Charizard. They’ve been together since it was a Charmander, and after so many battles it’s definitely grown up. Leon and Charizard’s accomplishments are undoubtedly complete. No one can truly break Ash, and it seems like he can go on forever. However he is unrefined, so he’s incomplete. In better words, Ash still has loads of potential. Leon already has a sense of stability, doesn’t that make them pretty different?
