What was it that got you guys back into pokemon?
I'm sure some of you may have simply stayed into the series ever since you were kids, but I'm willing to bet most of you had a period where you lost interest. So, for those of you who did, what was it that got you hooked again?
For me, I had been playing ever since I got Sapphire sometime in 03. I was only 5, not many other kids played pokemon, or even had GBAs. However once DP came out and EVERY kid had a DS with a copy, pokemon became a full blow phenomenon at my school. I look back at gen 4 the most fondly because of this, it was 4 years of uninterrupted consistent pokemon hype, and the WiFi capabilities made multiplayer shit at recess really simple, those were truly the best years of my life.
However after BW came out pokemon was already a passing fad, no one really cared anymore and I was already burnt out on it. I remember hating gen 5, most of the new pokemon looked weird to me and I all around didn't like the new feel. I quit for a long ass time.
Fast forward to 2017, I'm moving to college and I'm going throw old boxes in my attic. I find an old copy and white 2 that my mom got me for my b day, since she didn't know I didn't like pokemon anymore. I never touched it. I figured "fuck it, I should play it". I played it, and I was instantly hooked on pokemon again. The game felt smooth, I really liked the huge variety of pokemon, and I even really liked the new look and feel of the games now. I remember thinking how dumb I was for not being into it as a kid, felt like I needed to be older to appreciate it. After I beat the game I remember running into massively overleveled post game trainers and thinking it was weird. So I found this site and started complaining about it.
My team was Serperior, Braviary, Darmanitan, Ferrothorn, and jellicent.
