It's not what I believe it's what happened. Ash didn't fight the totem he only took down the support, but either way Lana could never beat the totem without Ash. But Ash & Lillie did more than that, they saved the world together by saving Lillie's mother and helping Lunalala and Solgaleo against Necrozma. Kyogre was just a one off thing with Lana.
