>>35282963I normally base my starter choice on the Final Evo, so those are the ones i will consider, even if i do initially point out the 1st stage.
>Gen 1: BulbasaurMy original Bro. Admittedly, the only Gen 1 Starter i didn't like both back then and now is Blastoise, but overall my love for Venusaur persisted even with coming generations seemingly perfecting the traits i already liked about him.
>Gen 2: TotodileThis gen struck me as a creative plateau, maybe even a pit, as evidenced by statements that it's just an addendum to Gen 1. This is also manifest in its starters, which, even though not offensive, were very bland. Meganium is the most relatively interesting of the three, but Feraligatr appeals more to me, even if that appeal limits to "it's a big lizard". That's not a particularly good thing.
>Gen 3: TreeckoAdmittedly, even though Treecko was my first choice, later in my life i settled for Swampert, but since this is a "Which starter did you pick in each generation" thread, i ain't gonna lie about it. I do prefer Grovyle to Sceptile, but not by much, really. They're both pretty good. Only Blaziken struck me as uncannily human-like. I still believe if you gave it typical digimon eyes, it would feel out of place in that series.
>Gen 4: PiplupI remember having a hard time choosing a starter here because i decided to go blind on the Final Evos and all of the starters looked pretty ugly overall. Eventually i went with Piplup. I was about to drop my starter for the first time when i saw Prinplup, but mustered up some will to reach the final evo, which i'm glad i did, because ALL of the starters redeemed themselves in the end. Most likely the best Final Starters to date. Torterra went on to replace Venusaur as my favorite starter overall. Infernape became my favorite Fire starter and Empoleon was close to being my fave water.
