it looked better in gen 1 imo, though the lack of stairs and rock cliffs may slightly lessen the sense of ascending towards a mountain it makes up for it by really selling the feel of being overwhelmingly engulfed by imposing statues of all the strongest and greatest pokemon in history that symbolize the legacy of previous champions, making you even more of a tiny underdog about to undergo a monumental challenge
